Final Public Consultation held for support of competitiveness in the Defence dual-use technology and products priority area

The Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Economy and with the World Bank’s advisory support continue the implementation of the Strategic project for support of Croatian cluster competitiveness initiatives. The objective of the project is to increase the competitiveness and improve the position of the Republic of Croatia within the global value chains within the sub-thematic area of the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Republic of Croatia 2016-2020 (S3) dedicated to Defence dual-use technologies and products.

Final results of this project: Strategic Segmentation Proposal with a Action Plan for the Field of Defense Dual-use Technologies and Products in global value chains were presented to the interested stakeholders at the public consultations held on 03rd July 2017 at the Congress Center Forum (Green Gold Center), Radnička cesta 50, 10 000 Zagreb.

At the meeting, the proposal of the Action Plan was presented, including concrete initiatives to be implemented by 2018. The initiative proposal is the result of research into global industry trends and numerous consultations with companies involved in the production of defense products in the Republic of Croatia. It is proposed that the planned initiatives are jointly implemented by companies, central state administration bodies, government agencies and other stakeholders identified as important for the process.

The welcoming notes were given by Mr. Goran Basarac from the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts and State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Mr. Zdravko Jakop, while the presentations were held by Mr. Stjepan Mandić, World Bank Consultant in the field of “defense dual-use technologies and purpose” products. Also, Goran Pavlov from IRI Centar d.o.o. presented the concept of Innovation Cluster in the context of the Centers of Competence for the field of “defense dual-use technologies and products”.
